What We Believe
We believe that the definition of “wellness” must incorporate the digital influence on our kid’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and even spiritual beings.
Kids Digital Wellness (KDW) is guided and informed by our core values:
Preserving Family Connections
The accessibility and advancement of technology is a beautiful thing, but it should not replace the connections that are created when parent and child interact in natural and authentic ways. We are adamant about establishing digital wellness habits at home that will make space for every day relationship building.
Knowledge Is Power
Education and Community! These are our primary factors driving the work that we do. Supporting parents and caregivers along their quest to raise happy, healthy, respectful and intelligent tiny humans…plus live a fulfilled life of their own.
Combating the Digital Divide
Access to the internet and owning tech like smart devices (cell phones, tablets, laptops) can improve quality of life, especially for vulnerable populations. We aim to help bridge the digital divide by advocating for underserved groups, promoting digital inclusion, encouraging digital literacy efforts and generating awareness on the impact of the digital divide.
Parental Support
This is a Shame-Free Zone! We value this so much that it is the #1 Pillar in or 6 Pillars of Kids Digital Wellness. We uphold and cultivate personal relationships that embrace and respect the individuality of both child and parent. Life is so much better when you don’t do it alone and you leave the judgement behind. There is no one-size-fits-all in this community. Whether you allow your child to have a device at the dinner table or not…we are here to support you.
Community Partnerships
We believe that working with people and organizations that share our core values can increase the impact on the causes we support. A percentage of our product sales will be donated to support causes like teen suicide, children’s mental health services and digital access.
Eco-Friendly Products and Packaging
Scientists predict that if we don’t collectively reduce single-use plastic waste now, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050. As an island-girl, our founder has seen the impact on marine life first-hand. Finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint is more important than ever before. The production and mismanagement of plastic waste is at an all-time high. That’s why KDW sources products and packaging that are sustainable and can be recycled.
